Motorized transportation is a necessity around the world. The manufacturing of motor vehicles takes place in most industrialized nations and many manufacturers produce several different brands of cars. The Volkswagen group of Germany has many companies under its corporate umbrella. Although General Motors has shed several brand it is still the parent company of many companies that includes Holden of Australia and Opel of Germany. A car manufacturer in India took a chance a few years ago and purchased Land Rover and Jaguar from the Ford Company. These makes, still manufactured in Great Britain, are now under the control of Tata Motors, an Indian auto company with a long heritage and a strong social commitment.
Tata Motors is based I India and has manufacturing plants around the world. From Great Britain to Spain and South Korea, Tata vehicles are built around the world. The auto manufacturer employs over 24,000 persons and produces a wide variety of personal and commercial vehicles. The complete line up of vehicles manufactured by Tata and its subsidiaries includes heavy trucks, buses and a full variety of cars from luxury models to the people’s car of the twenty first century, the Tata Nano. This car represents the social vision of the company’s chief operating officer.
The Nano concept was first introduced in 2008. The small car is meant to be easily affordable for all. The basic transportation is constructed of very few parts. The body lacks such things as a gas filler door and a trunk lid to minimize metal stampings and hinges and latches. The small engine provides enough power to move the small four door vehicle through the crowded Indian streets and roadways. Although some production problems had held back the public introduction of the Nano Tata Motors, the largest manufacturer in India’s automotive industry, plans to move forward with the car. Deliveries have begun in India already.
Tata is more than just a one car company though. There are models from this auto industry giant that compete in every segment of the Indian market. The Indica and the indigo model lines provide solid transportation with a variety of models and trim levels. Tata motors are one of the up and coming manufacturers in the automobile industry.
